Alcohol Inking

While we won’t be working with gourds specifically participants are welcome to bring a gourd or shard to experiment with. 

What Patricia will provide for each person:

  • 4 blank cards and envelopes

  • A variety of papers used for alcohol inking

Coiling on a Gourd the Basics 

You will learn to open coil on a ready to weave gourd, how to start and stop weaving, how to add thread, how to add beads, and how to close coil adding color to the design. Materials you will use are pre-cut hard shell gourd, hand-dyed cord, waxed Linen thread, glass beads. The finish gourd measure 5" x 5" x 3"

Mix-it Up, Coiling, Knotless Netting and Couching on a gourd

 Learn to use several weaving techniques to create a piece of art. You will combine knotless netting, couching, beading and open/closed coiling on a hard-shell gourd. With these techniques you can create a simple or elaborate weaving.                         

Supplies included in the kit: drill bit, needle, tiger tape, ready-to-weave gourd, waxed linen cord, dyed cord, beads and step by step color photo instructions.
