PDX Gourd Patch

  A group that  explores gourd artistry for all skill levels. You'll find everything from learning how to grow gourds from seeds to creating beautiful art pieces.  We meet on the first Wednesday of the month see below for location of each months meeting.

Mix it Up, Weaving on a Gourd with Jane Wilson

Learn to use several weaving techniques to create a piece of art. On a hard-shell gourd, you'll combine knotless netting, couching, beading, and open/closed coiling. With these techniques, you can create simple or elaborate weaving. You will be able to choose from several color combinations of painted, pre-finished gourds, hand-dyed cord, thread, and beads. You don't need to know how to weave to take this class. The first day of class you will learn to open and close coil and add beads to the design. The second day of class you will learn to knotless net to a couched row of cord. Materials supplied: drill bit, needle, tiger tape, 5" to 6” ready-to-weave gourd, waxed linen cord, hand-dyed cord, beads, mini awl and step by step color photo instructions.

Tools needed: Drill, awl, scissors, pencil, apron
